The Artist:

Come join us for a weekend of beads and fun with the Grande Dame of Beading, Diane Fitzgerald. Diane has been teaching bead weaving for over 27 years. She has traveled the world learning about how beads are used in different cultures. Now is your chance to learn from one of the best. We have selected 4 half day classes and 1 full day class for you to choose from.

Classes open to all current IBS members. Classes filled on a first come first served basis.

Desert Rose Beaded Bead
Sept. 23, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
$42 Class | $17.50 Kit
Experience Level: Intermediate

Class/Kit Options

These beaded beads suggest a type of mineral found in the Sahara Desert...hence their name, Desert Rose. Each bead is about one inch in diameter. They have an internal bead to prevent collapsing.

In this class you will learn how to make this beaded bead using two holed lentils. Once you have mastered the bead, you can turn it into whatever you would like, earrings, a pendant, etc.

Materials in the kit will be enough to make 3 beaded beads.

Starz Bracelet
Sept. 23, 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
$42 Class | $40 Kit
Experience Level: Intermediate

Class/Kit Options

This sparkly bracelet would be a stellar addition to any wardrobe. Students will use two hole triangles and quadra tiles along with an assortment of other beads to create these star shaped components.

Ziggurat Bracelet
Sept. 24, 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
$42 Class | $45 Kit
Experience Level: Intermediate

Class/Kit Options

The Ziggurat Bracelet is a three-dimensional bracelet composed of seven stair-stepped pyramid units that were inspired by the ancient Babylonian stepped pyramids. The bracelet uses four-hole QuadraTiles and two hole triangles that are assembled with a technique that resembles rivets. It is finished with a slider clasp.

Bells of Ireland Necklace
Sept. 24, 1:00 AM - 4:00 PM
$42 Class | $55 Kit
Experience Level: Any

Class/Kit Options

This show stopping necklace is a great way to use those challenging piggy beads. It works up fairly quickly and makes quite a statement. Once you learn the trick to this rope, you’ll want to make one in every color.

Buttons, Buttons, Who's Got the Button?
Sept. 25, 10:00 AM - 4:30 PM
$85 Class
Experience Level: Any

This is a special button play day class that Diane rarely offers. Bring your button stash and spend the day learning new ways to use your buttons. Diane will do demonstrations throughout the day, showing different techniques and projects. A one-day class with a variety of projects to choose from. Students will bring their own buttons (the more the merrier!) plus thread, cord, seed beads in various sizes (more detail later). Newsletters with ideas for using buttons in necklaces, bracelets, earrings and decorative objects will be sent to registered students weekly beginning several weeks before class so they have some ideas of what they can make with buttons and beads. Individual explorations will be encouraged as well. The necklace in the photo is just one of many possible projects you can try.

The classes are open to current IBS members. If your would like to join or your membership has lapsed, please include your individual membership fee of $30 with your registration. You may use the online payment options listed above or send in a registration form and check. Your registration form and payment check must be mailed as designated on the form. This is “first come, first placed” event determined by the date on your registration.

There will be a 1 hour break for lunch on Friday and Saturday. Sunday there will be no lunch break, just a small snack break mid class. We will provide a list of near-by lunch places, but as always, it’s often more efficient to bring your lunch.
