2019: Jan - Feb - Mar - Apr - May - Jun - Jul - Aug - Sept - Oct - Nov - Dec

The Program:

As we have done for several years, we will be beading 1.5" x 1.5" squares to attach to 2" x 2" pellon squares. These squares will be mailed to the Bead It Forward project. They will be assembled into mini quilts, shadowboxes, ornaments, and a few surprises. The items will be auctioned and all proceeds will benefit two organizations: The Rays of Hope Center for Breast Cancer Research, and the Virginia Thurston Healing Garden. The Bead-It-Forward theme for 2019 is FLOWERS so squares should depict an object relating to a flower motif.

Visit the patterns page for free patterns at beaditforward.blogspot.com or https://www.facebook.com/beaditforward

You can also like it on Facebook for regular news and updates on the Bead-It-Forward project. Let's be creative! Make up your own pattern(s) and share them with the group.

Carol will lead the meeting. She will provide pellon squares and patterns, in addition to the free patterns mentioned in the website above. A second Constant Contact will be sent at the same time as this one. In it you will find a page of patterns as well as how to get additional patterns by emailing Carol Marlin: cemarlin@sbcglobal.net

ALSO AT THE FEBRUARY MEETING we will be having our annual Garage Sale. If you have bead related items that you want to sell, bring them to the February meeting. All sales are on a cash basis and no sales will be made until after the regularly scheduled program. Also at this meeting we will have Mr. Robin Reuter . Unfortunately his wife passed away and he has her stash of beads that he will be selling. He may be selling them by the box full at a price of $30 to $40 per box. (Subject to change at Mr. Reuter's discretion.)

GUIDELINES FOR THE 2019 BEAD-IT-FORWARD PROJECT

Each piece of donated beadwork must be 1 1/2" by 1 1/2" square You may use any beadwork stitches or other techniques on your square, and you may include beads in any color, shape, or style, but the overall motif of the square must reflect "Flowers" Each beaded square must be stitched to the center of a 2" x 2" backing, like Lacy's Stiff Stuff beading foundation or similar weight pellon-like fabric.

Keep in mind:

* Avoid drawing lines on the front side of the backing with pencil, pen, or marker.

* You may dye the backing or color it with permanent markers if you wish.

* All beads and objects must be securely attached to the backing with thread. Glue or tape is not durable enough.

* Do not stitch or draw anything on the exposed backing around the square.

* On the back of your completed square, please print your name in permanent marker and draw an UP arrow to indicate the desired orientation of the square.
